WADALA FIRE: SALON BLAZE SPREADS TO GARMENTS UNIT, 65-YEAR-OLD MAN INJURED IN EARLY MORNING INCIDENT
An early morning fire at a salon and adjoining garments factory unit in Wadala, Mumbai, broke out at 1.34 am on Monday, injuring a 65-year-old man with 8–9 per cent burns. The blaze spread from electrical installations to nearby units before being controlled by 6 am after deployment of four fire engines.
The blaze erupted at 1.34 am in a shop located on the ground floor of a structure on Salt Pan Road in Sangam Nagar, officials said. Initially confined to the salon, the fire engulfed hair-cutting instruments and electrical installations before rapidly spreading to the neighbouring garments unit.
A man identified as Mohd Umar sustained 8 to 9 per cent burn injuries in the incident. He was immediately admitted to Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital in Sion, where his condition was reported to be stable, according to officials.
Emergency response teams deployed at least four fire engines along with additional firefighting vehicles to the site. Firefighting operations continued for several hours before the blaze was fully brought under control by around 6 am.
Officials confirmed that swift action by firefighting units prevented the fire from spreading further within the densely packed commercial structure. The incident caused damage to both the salon and the adjacent garments unit.
